Every old country pub has a story or two... ours just happens to have a resident.
Legend has it that Rosie was a local woman during the gold mining days of St Bathans. Believed to have worked as a prostitute in the bustling township, her life was cut tragically short after a disagreement with a miner. While the details have faded with time, her story has become woven into the history of the Vulcan Hotel, and many believe she never really left.
For decades, guests have shared tales of footsteps in the hallway, lights flickering, unexpected knocks and the unmistakable feeling that someone else is in the room. Most of those stories centre around Room One, where Rosie is said to make her presence known.
Whether you're a sceptic or someone who loves a good ghost story, Rosie has become part of the charm and character of the Vulcan Hotel. Some guests book Room One hoping for an encounter, while others are quite happy to admire her story from a safe distance.
We can't promise you'll meet Rosie... but if you do, you'll have a story to take home that's every bit as memorable as your stay.
